Our Approach

We believe children learn best when they are free to explore, investigate, ask questions and follow their interests. Through play, meaningful experiences and supportive relationships, we help children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Our Setting

Based in the heart of the village, Hemingbrough Pre-School offers a welcoming indoor and outdoor environment where children can play, explore and discover. Whether they are creating, building, investigating, sharing stories or getting muddy in the outdoor area, children have the freedom to follow their interests and learn through meaningful experiences.

We are proud to be a small, community-focused pre-school where children and families are known, valued and supported. Strong relationships help us create a sense of belonging and provide the foundations for children’s learning and development.

Our Philosophy

At Hemingbrough Pre-School, we want every child to have the very best start to their learning journey. Our aim is to make learning fun, meaningful, and inclusive.

We provide rich opportunities for children to develop their creativity, curiosity, independence, and sense of self. Our six curriculum pillars – Independence, Book Lovers, Curious Learners, Excellent Communicators, Risk Takers, and Kind & Respectful Friends – are at the heart of everything we do.

Through play-based learning and a nurturing environment, children are encouraged to follow their interests, build relationships, and explore both indoors and outdoors. We carefully plan and respond in the moment to ensure each child can reach their full potential.
